Summer Loving.

Filed under: Uncategorized — elleryh @ 7:23 pm

Hey Everyone,

I hope you’re all enjoying a lovely summer. I can’t believe it’s already end of July. Summer needs to slow down! I just returned back to Park City after three weeks in Mt. Hood, Oregon. One of my sponsors, Nike, got a house for the summer in Government Camp, I ended up posting up there for several weeks. The first week, Nike sponsored the session at Windells, so Mason Aguirre, Sage Kotsenburg, Matt Ladley, and myself rode at Windells and did a bunch of camper activities.

The Nike headquarters, or the “Nike Campus”, is in Beaverton, which is about an hour from Government Camp. I was down at Nike quite a bit. I was asked to help present the Maxim Awards with Picabo Street and Danny Kass. That was an unbelievable experience. I was able to meet and see all the people who are always pushing innovation and working hard to make Nike the brand that it is.

The second week was a FRENDS session at High Cascade Snowboard Camp. That meant that a bunch of my friends were there riding. Luke and Jack Mitrani, Scotty Lago, Danny Davis, and the rest of the boys were ripping around all week and it was great to ride with them. At the end of the session, most of us decided to go camping for the fourth of July. We went to a river and set up camp. Bonfires, Chilly water, Latter golf, and tanning went over really well with all of us.

Unfortunately I wasn’t feeling too well soon after and that took some of the fun away. I went to the doctor and they told me I had Strep Throat. That was not fun, I went back to my house where I was staying and basically couldn’t leave my room for a week!!!

The last week, Gretchen Bleiler got into town, so I knew there was going to be some fun riding to be had. Once I got healthy again, I had some fun days riding with Gretchen, Louie Vito, Elena Hight, and my coach Ricky Bower. It was a great way to end my stay at Hood. Louie and I packed up my car and road tripped it back to Park City.

Now I’m heading back east to enjoy about a week of summer before I head off to New Zealand for the Burton New Zealand Open. It’s going to be really cold over there, so I’m trying to soak up some nice weather before I immerse myself in the heart of winter halfway across the world.

Look for a new blog in a couple weeks after the NZ Open!

Hello everyone!

Hope you’re all doing fabulous. I did a shoot with Gatorade and ESPN a couple weeks ago at Mammoth Mountain. I was in Mammoth for a US Team training camp. We were starting our new dryland training programs and we were also getting some on hill riding in. Mammoth set up an air bag for us to try some new tricks into. We encountered some really crummy weather days during our two week camp, but by the end we were lucky enough to get three good halfpipe days in. The last day, ESPN and Gatorade came to film a segment called “Inside the Edge.” They followed me around for a day to see what my on hill riding and off hill training was like. Gatorade brought in one of their sports scientists Melissa to do tests on my body composition and hydration levels throughout my training day. It is always really interesting seeing the data from my riding days because it teaches me how I can better fuel my body to ride all day. It was great to work with ESPN as well. We lucked out with a beautiful day and great halfpipe. Thank you to everyone who was involved, and to everyone else, I hope you enjoy the segment!!!

Cheers,
Ellery
