Looking for my next wave.
Hey everyone –
I just got back from beautiful New Zealand, where I had been training with the U.S. Snowboard Team. It was great to be back on snow, but crazy to go straight from the beach to a snowboard! Right before New Zealand, I went to Costa Rica with my brothers to surf and was in full summer mode.
Costa Rica was amazing. I was able to surf barreling overhead waves; which I had not done before, it was intense. I spent a lot of time paddling and duck diving to get out to the line up. Every day brought a new adventure; it was awesome to share that with my brothers.
It’s pretty unreal to go from surfing in Costa one day and jumping on a plane for NZ the next to go snowboarding. It was freezing cold at first and the jet lag was pretty bad, but once I got on snow, I was happy to be riding again. My Gatorade was my best friend on this trip, not only helping me hydrate on the plane, but before, during a and after hiking pipe all day. Staying hydrated is key when you participate in a sport at high altitudes, it helped me maintain my energy through out the long days of riding.

So beautiful, the perfect place to go for a dip.
‘Til next time!

The Streets of Costa Rica.
Hey everyone –
I can’t believe it’s September already! It’s been an awesome summer; I’ve had a good balance of rest and training, and enjoying the sunshine on the East Coast!
At the beginning of the summer I went to Park City, Utah, to do some fitness testing at the Center of Excellence with the US Snowboard Team, which was really cool. We did strength testing, and this cardio one called a Lactate Test. After doing the testing, the trainers gave me specific exercises to work on. I’ve actually taken parts of the workout and have really focused on them for myself – specifically cardio and core.
I can’t spend all my time inside though! Besides running, spinning, and core training, I’ve gotten into stand-up paddle boarding which is super fun and such a good workout. At home in CT, we live on the Long Island Sound, which is really convenient; I was taking the paddle board out about three times a week. I’m really into it.
My goals for the summer were to keep up the training even while on vacation in Costa Rica, which was tough, but it’s important not to lose your momentum!
‘Til next time!

Hey Everyone!
I’m still in New Zealand at the moment. I’ve been here for eighteen days! The snow hasn’t been great, nor has the weather, but we are making the best of it! Today it was sunny up at Cardrona, but really strong winds! I had a great time riding nonetheless with Ricky Bower, Mike Jankowski, Clair Bidez, Kelly Clark, Elena Hight, Greg Bretz, and Kelly Marren. We cruised around the whole mountain finding fun lips and soft landings.
This morning was nuts! At 4:30 a.m. our house started shaking like crazy. I woke up and thought I was dreaming, but then I realized it was an earthquake. It lasted about a minute and a half. Clair came running into my room, and we were standing trying not to fall over. That was the first earthquake I’ve ever experienced. Here’s an article on it. Scientists say it was just as strong as the earthquake that struck Haiti! Thank goodness everyone’s okay!!
